Description: Earthquake demo of Earth Science, by AIMSTAR Information Solutions, Inc., a multimedia CD for middle school and high school students. The CD presents information on 10 areas of earth phenomena including clouds, earthquakes, forests, global warming, great lakes, the ocean, ozone, polar ice, volcanoes, and wetlands. Images, text, movies, and narration are integrated on the interactive CD.

Each category has three sections:

1. The Main section contains a narrated lesson on the category. Students can move sequentially through the section or go directly to pages of interest from the opening page for the category. Each page has an image and text on some aspect of the category. Each page is narrated so students can view the section in different ways:

i. They can look at the images and listen to the narration.
ii. They can turn off narration and read the more detailed text.
iii. They can both listen to the narration and read the text.

Some of these main pages also contain movies to help further illuminate the concepts of the screen. Students can click on the highlighted movie indicator, view the movie, and continue. In addition to the images, text and movies on the screens, the main section contains pop-up definitions for important terms in the category. Students can click on highlighted words, learn what they mean, and continue with the section. The main sections also allow easy navigation between categories, and there is a "Last Module" button to allow students to step back through categories that have been visited.

2. The Views section contains supplementary information on the category. It is also narrated and allows easy navigation within the section.

3. The Slides section contains a set of images on the category. It is not narrated and is a slide show of various images related to the category.
